The Asus ROG Phone 6 builds on a winning formula of solid specs, familiar styling, and a well-thought-out accessory line. Its ecosystem is one you can really buy into, and the phone is great in day-to-day use, with loads of smart, gamer-centric… Gizmobo gives you all the latest mobile phone release dates, specifications, comparisons, and prices in more than 20 countries. Xiaomi Tech was founded as a Chinese smartphone producer in 2010 and soon reached high market shares in its home market. Although Xiaomi is not one of the Top 5 smartphone manufacturers worldwide in 2016, it is nevertheless one of the big global players in this market segment. The triggers are magnetic so they tend to slide out at the slightest movement. You can usually rely on Xiaomi to provide very good displays for its phones, and the 6.67-inch Super AMOLED screen on the Black Shark 4 Pro is no exception. It has a maximum refresh rate of 144Hz, support for HDR10+, and a maximum brightness of 1300 nits.

Without a single morsel of doubt, I can confidently recommend the Black Shark 4 for gamers. The physical trigger buttons were a pleasant experience and the device didn’t even break a sweat on max settings on high refresh rates. The raw power of the Snapdragon 870 is strong but it definitely won’t beat the likes of the Snapdragon 888+.
- Xiaomi has successfully developed its gaming smartphone further with the Black Shark 4 and delivers a good gamer phone in a comparatively discreet design.
- Because of that, I consider this a good camera, but I wouldn’t use it to try and capture birds mid-flight at night.
- I left it on, playing music, scrolling through social media pages stock firmware ROM, and, of course, gaming.
I’d be willing to overlook some of these shortcomings if there weren’t already other powerful phones on the market. Samsung’s latest Galaxy S22 lineup, for instance, packs a lot of power as well as a 240Hz touch sampling rate. That’s a fraction of the Black Shark 4 Pro’s 720Hz spec, but I’d argue that the tangible difference probably isn’t perceptible to most people. And, at this point, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 within the S22 series outpaces the Snapdragon 888 that’s in the 4 Pro. You can have most of the power that you need in a phone that looks far better than this one and works with many more US carriers. The Black Shark 4 Pro won’t work with LTE or 5G networks on most carriers — at least reliably. It’s compatible with a smattering of bands for AT&T and T-Mobile, but it’s not broad support in the slightest.
Warming is on the usual level for high-performance smartphones and should hardly cause any problems under everyday conditions. However, the image becomes a bit pixelated in only one lux of brightness, but colors and the image content can still be recognized in general. The images never wowed me, but they never disappointed me either.
